App Uninstaller
See how much space installed apps use, and remove their caches, logs, and other related files when you uninstall them.
Updated 2026/10/28
App Uninstaller lists the apps installed on your Mac and the space they use, and finds each app's caches, logs, settings, and other related files so you can deal with them when you uninstall.
Scan installed apps
Click Start Scan. WashBear reads your installed apps and checks their related files without changing anything. When the scan finishes, it shows how many apps were found and their estimated total. After you install or remove apps, click Scan Again to refresh the list.
Find an app
- Filter by status: All, Ready, Admin required, Running, or Unavailable.
- Type an app name, developer, or path in the search field.
- Click a column header, or use the sort menu next to the search field, to sort by name, estimated size, status, last used date, or installation date.
Estimated size is based on logical file sizes; compressed, cloned, or shared files can make the space actually freed differ. Last used and Installed dates are estimates too and are for reference only.
App status
- Ready: the app can be uninstalled right away.
- Close app: the app is running and must quit before it is uninstalled.
- Admin required: macOS asks for administrator approval during uninstall. Cancelling the request leaves the app installed.
- Uninstall unavailable: for example, apps that come with the system. You can view them but not uninstall them.
Review related files
Click an app's row to expand it and see what will be removed. Each item is labeled with its risk:
- Required for uninstall: the Application itself.
- Can be recreated: Application cache, Application logs, Saved window data, and some Website and network data. These are selected by default.
- May contain user data: App support files, Preferences, Private app data, and the remaining website data. These are not selected by default; select them only when you are sure you no longer need them.
Use Show in folder on any item to see where it is. WashBear finds these files by the app's identifier in your Library folder; data kept in shared group containers, folders named after the developer, or the system-wide Library is not listed, so check those by hand if you need to.
Uninstall apps
Select one or more apps and click Uninstall Selected at the bottom, or use the uninstall button on an app's row. The bottom bar shows Selected apps and Estimated data to remove.
- If a selected app is running, Close apps before uninstalling opens first. Select the apps to close and continue, after saving your work. If an app does not close normally, you can choose Force quit and continue. Apps that are not closed are removed from this uninstall.
- The confirmation lists how many apps will be uninstalled and the estimated space to free. If your selection includes items that may contain user data, it warns that they may include settings or local files. Click Confirm Uninstall to start.
- For apps marked Admin required, macOS shows an authorization prompt.
The apps and their selected related files are deleted permanently. Nothing goes to the Trash, and nothing can be recovered. While the uninstall runs you can click Cancel uninstall: apps that have not started are not uninstalled, and apps already removed cannot be restored. If you see The app changed. Refresh the list and try again, scan again before retrying. Uninstall results are recorded in Operation History.
Tip
Back up any settings, templates, or local files you want to keep before uninstalling.
